Below is a story from Stacey Millar, one of our Waterloo families, about what she witnessed in her daughter Marley at yesterday's KidStuf over at Cedar Falls. Very cool to be a part of a church family where things like this just happen. Enjoy it with Stacey's permission.
"I just had to take a minute to tell you how fabulous Prairie Lakes is. My daughter and I went to Kidstuff last night.
When it was over there were balloons for the kids.
We had more kids than balloons, so some kids were upset. My daughter had a balloon and saw a little girl we know from the Waterloo campus and she was crying because she didn’t get one. Marley gave her the balloon she had and gave her a hug.
When Marley turned back to me she had big tears in her eyes. I asked her what was wrong and she said she felt good for giving the balloon to her, but she was sad because she really wanted one. As she smiled through her big crocodile tears I told her how proud I was of her and how she showed her humility that we have been learning about this month.
While I was telling her she did the right thing another little girl we didn’t know came up to Marley. She had two balloons and without even thinking she gave one to Marley. Marley was so happy that she immediately started looking to find another child without a balloon that she could give hers to. She knew it felt good to put others first even when she wanted something. I was so amazed to see our monthly virtue being played out right in front of my eyes.
What an amazing evening!! I know we came away so enriched and I am so thankful God led us to Prairie Lakes."
And that is the picture, friends. Love being on this journey with you. Find the person God has laid on your heart this week, and give away your balloon to them.
