The Waiting is Over

Ok, so I got this email that really spoke to me about WAITING! Like many of you, Amy and I are looking for opportunities to invite someone to another step, but sometimes it is a long and slow process. For over a year we have been investing in a new relationship at a place we like to eat.

Today, some fellow Prairielakians were bold and asked the same gal to our Christmas Eve services…

“Hey Ron,
There is this waitress at Hu Hot that commented that you and your family have been working on her to attend Prairie Lakes  for some time.  I don't know her name, but my uncle Don and I got in a conversation with her about spiritual matters and we invited her to come to the Christmas Eve service.  I just want to let you know the seeds you planted were working in her!

My hope is that each of us will find courage and invite someone to hear the good news, the time is NOW, the waiting is over!

Huddle Rescheduling

Hey everyone!

 

We have noticed some scheduling conflicts with the huddles so, if you were scheduled for a huddle that has already passed and were not able to make it, please look through the dates on the “Huddle RSVP” tab at the top and RSVP to a date that will work for you. We really hope you can join us!

Winter Wonderland

The reports are coming in and it is pretty blustery out there! The snow plow left me an early Christmas present this morning, an extra 3 feet of snow in front of my drive, nice! So I hope that you are somewhere warm and safe today. If you are in for the day, in between work you took home, consider doing a few of these things:

1. Bake something delicious and then put on your parka to take it to your neighbor. Nothing says you care like wading through snow drifts to deliver something warm and fresh!
2. Talk on the phone with someone who needs to hear a word of encouragement or just be a friend with a listening ear.
3. Drink hot cocoa or tea while you stare out the window watching the snow fall. This is a perfect time to pray for friends and neighbors who are out in the weather today or praise God for the seasons in our life
4. Be with those you love and put buckets on your head…

 

Huddle Cancellation

Due to the winter wonderland outside we will be canceling the huddle tomorrow, Thursday the 10^th. I would love to have everyone over for some hot drinks and cozy fun but I also want safety to come first. We will get a hold of everyone to reschedule for a different date and time. Enjoy the snow and be careful!

New Faces

We had another great huddle last night and it was great to see everybody making new connections. One thing we talked about was getting ready for something NEW. The Waterloo Campus will bring tons of opportunity for new invitations, new friendships, new ways to serve and soon enough new places to worship.

I decided today to start something new in preparation for what comes next. I am seeking out a new favorite place to enjoy coffee and meet people. I don’t know about you, but I need a place where I can meet new people and engage in spiritual conversations.  So, today I am saying goodbye to my OLD local hangout and searching for a new place to invite people to another step.

I tried this place today…got any other suggestions? Would love to hear from you!

Things to do in the 'Loo THIS WEEKEND!

 

Hey everyone-

We have a great opportunity to be a part of the Christmas festivities in downtown Waterloo this weekend. “Miracle on 4^th” will be this Saturday, December 5^th from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Masonic Event Center at 325 E. Park Ave.

What a great time to wear our t-shirts and spread the spirit of giving! There will be free crafts for kids, free refreshments and horse-drawn carriage rides! Tree lighting will be held at 6:30 pm also at Cardinal Park 100 E. 4^thStreet.

Let’s entertain the idea of giving $5 to bless someone as you are inspired. The money could be enclosed in a Christmas note card with an invitation to attend Prairie Lakes Church Christmas service! Here’s another opportunity to strengthen relationships with our community!

I hope to see the PLC Waterloo Campus logo all over Saturday night!

Are you ready for Waterloo?

Things are ramping up as we head toward the New Year and my question is: Are you ready? We will be launching the Waterloo church in January and want to be sure that you are prepared. Here is a short list of suggestions to help get you ready:

 

1. Get signed up for a Huddle. Huddles are a great place to get all the latest information and meet the new Waterloo staff.


2. Get into a new rhythm. Our regular weekly service time will be 11:00 a.m. up in the chapel starting January 17th. Details to follow.


3. Get ready to move. We will be transitioning to a temporary location in Waterloo after the chapel services.


4. Get involved. We will be calling/emailing soon to get you on a Waterloo serving team.


5. Get the word out. Tell everybody you know that it isn’t just Santa Clause coming to town! Wear your T-shirt, make the blog your homepage at work, and find creative ways to invite people to another step with God…
